CENFIM and AMUEBLA attended the 4º edition of the Basque Ecodesign Meeting, BEM2020, hold in Bilbao (Spain) last February. During the event, the largest ecodesign congress in southern Europe, about thirty experts in circular economy and eco-design stated the challenges of the coming years in this area, while showing best practices in different industry sectors to face a new decade of growth in the field of products and services based on international ecodesign and circular economy certifications.
According to the organizers, BEM2020 “has made it clear that the circular and low carbon economy is an irreversible process, in which citizens, companies and administrations must move forward together.” The meeting has attracted about a thousand people, including professionals from fields such as renewable energy, food or furniture, interested in trends and challenges in eco-design and circular economy. Also, the organizers have put in value that for the first time, through an exhibition, “the concept of circular economy has been seen in practice, integrated into many products”.
During the congress, organized by the Department of Environment, Territorial Planning and Housing of the Basque Government and the Basque Ecodesign Centre, CENFIM and AMUEBLA had the opportunity to present FURN360 project to several attendants, experts on ecodesign and professionals of the industry, that showed their interest and satisfaction to have a new training tool that could support the furniture industry into the circular transition.
